A comprehensive contact lens exam is the first step to your first or newest pair of lenses. We evaluate your eyes for suitability, measure your prescription, and determine if specialty lenses are required.
Your prescription for contacts differs from your glasses.
Once we confirm you are a candidate for contact lenses and decide on the style you’ll wear, we take detailed measurements of your eyes, including curvature and corneal shape, often using corneal topography. This makes sure your lenses fit properly, providing clear vision and lasting comfort.
We provide a trial pair of lenses to make sure they meet your visual needs and comfort preferences. We will discuss expectations with you, such as any adjustment period to get used to your new lenses. Then we’ll follow up with you to discuss the fit.
If adjustments are needed, we will explore other powers, styles, or brands until the perfect fit is found.
Our Specialty Contact Lenses
Standard soft contact lenses and rigid gas-permeable lenses can fit a wide range of eyes and prescriptions, but sometimes you need some specific features to improve your clarity and comfort. That’s where specialty lenses come in.
We offer a wide range of specialty lenses for unique needs, including:
- Multifocal lenses: Correct near and distance vision in a single lens, ideal for presbyopia.
- Toric lenses: Designed for astigmatism, available in soft or rigid gas-permeable options.
- Ortho-K/CRT: Rigid lenses worn overnight to reshape the cornea and correct myopia during the day. Changes to the cornea are temporary and only last while you wear the lenses.
- Scleral lenses: Larger lenses that vault over the cornea and rest on the white part of the eye for patients with keratoconus, extreme dry eye, or irregular corneas.
